Gitanjali Babbar

Compassionate and loveful, Gitanjali Babbar is a modern-day revolutionary. Having spent over 10 years battling for the rights of this ostracised community, she impacts lives & touches hearts everyday. What sprouted during the Gandhi Fellowship program, has since been her core stride- to end forced sex work.

Biography

Gitangli has been accredited with the Global Fellowship by Youth Action Net along with 20 outstanding young leaders from 18 countries.  And, has received ‘The Amazing Indian  Award’ by TIMES Now,  for transforming brothels into classrooms, ‘Young Entrepreneur’ Award by Mahindra- Spark the Rise and Women Exemplar’ Award by Government of Delhi. She has also worked with the Professional Fellows program with the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at Washington DC.

Gitanjali is also a TEDx Speaker with having spoken at the  TEDxGBU and TEDx Hindu College about initiating the change in the life of sex workers. She received L’Oreal Femina Women of the Year for Education, Delhi’s Hero Award by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, Doordarshan Tejaswini Nari Shakti Award by Vice-President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Zee TV Fempowerment, Reebok Fit to Fight Award, Punjab National Bank Unsung Heroes Award, and Divine Shakti Leadership Award on International Women’s Day.

A postgraduate from MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia University (PG Diploma in Developmental Communication), she has worked with FHI, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as a Consultant and National Aids Control Organisation as a Program Officer.
